Aftercare & Downsizing
This is not the full version of piercing aftercare.
Piercing aftercare is provided to all clients. It is communicated verbally and also given on paper along with a small aftercare package.

Most Piercings:
-
Wash your hands before touching your piercing and/or cleaning your piercing.
-
Clean your piercing twice a day (morning + evening) with sterile saline and dry it off with a sterile non-woven compress.
-
Do not twist/turn the jewelry in your new piercing.
-
Avoid putting pressure on your new piercing. Putting pressure on the piercing results in the piercing growing crooked, irritation bumps, and rejection.
-
Come back in time to downsize your jewelry.
Downsizing Times:
Earlobes 4-8 weeks
Ear Cartilage 8-12 weeks
Eyebrow 6-8 weeks
Bridge 6-8 weeks
Nipples 3-6 months

Oral Piercings:
-
It is important to note that good oral hygiene is important to heal oral piercings. Make sure to brush your teeth at least twice a day and rinse your mouth with Easypiercing® Mouthwash Solution for 30-60 seconds.
-
REST; Try not to speak too much. The more you move the jewelry, the more it will swell.
-
ICE; Drinking ice-cold water, sucking on ice cubes/ice chips helps control swelling.
-
ELEVATE; Sleeping with an extra pillow and elevating your head above your heart helps reduce overnight swelling.
-
Rinse your mouth with bottled water after eating or drinking anything other than water.
-
Come back in time to downsize your jewelry.
Downsizing Times:
Lip 6-8 weeks
Tongue 3-6 weeks

Microdermals:
-
Wash your hands before touching your piercing and/or cleaning your piercing.
-
Week 1; Make sure to wear a plaster with extra padding (sterile non-woven compress) to keep pressure on the dermal 24/7. Change plaster daily.
-
Week 2 - Week 7; Make sure to wear a plaster only during the night to make sure the dermal does not get stuck in the bedding.
-
Clean your dermal by following the wound irrigation method using sterile saline to soften any crust that might have formed underneath the disc. ‘Floss’ the underside of the disc using a sterile non-woven compress.
-
Inappropriate cleaning may result in crust buildup underneath the jewelry top, resulting in the dermal becoming dislodged.

Stretching:
-
Requires a lot of care and patience. Stretched skin needs time to heal and repair so patience is a big part of the journey to healthy stretched skin.
-
Piercings should be stretched no more than 1mm at a time with a 3-month minimum healing period before stretching to the next size.
-
Wash your hands before touching your piercing and/or cleaning your piercing.
-
Clean your piercing twice a day (morning + evening) with sterile saline and dry it off with a sterile non-woven compress.
-
Do not twist/turn the jewelry in your new piercing.
-
Clean your piercing according to the wound irrigation method by using sterile saline to soften any crust that might have formed underneath the jewelry, and then simply wipe it away with a sterile non-woven compress.
-
Once the tenderness and inflammation have subsided start massaging the stretched piercing with natural oils (coconut oil, jojoba oil, olive oil,..). This helps break down scar tissue, stimulates circulation, and helps prevent dryness.
No piercing can be done without proper aftercare. If you take good care of your piercing and the surrounding skin, you will have a great chance of becoming one of the millions of people who have beautiful and healthy piercings.
